Lancaster County Breaks Ground on Regional Athletic Complex, Creating New Destination for Sports and
Lancaster County officially broke ground on the future Lancaster County Regional Athletic Complex on Tuesday, August 25, marking the beginning of a project that will create new opportunities for young athletes, families and the community to play, compete and gather.
Located along Charlotte Highway in the Roselyn development, the approximately 84-acre complex will provide a centralized destination for sports and recreation, accessible to families and athletes from across Lancaster County and positioned to attract regional tournaments and visitors.
The complex will feature three turf baseball fields, three grass soccer fields and batting cages, along with a splash pad, stadium-style seating and other amenities. The facility will support youth leagues, tournaments, practices and Parks and Recreation programming.
During his remarks at the groundbreaking, Lancaster County Council Chairman Brian Carnes reflected on the investment the complex represents, closing with a quote from Frederick Douglass: “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” The complex is designed to provide a place where children can be active, develop skills and build lasting memories while bringing families and the community together.
“Our county is growing and our parks and recreation system needs to grow with it,” said Christopher Clouden, Director of Lancaster County Parks and Recreation. “This complex is an investment that will provide opportunities for our children, bring families together and improve the quality of life for everyone in our community.”
The complex is being designed with both competition and community in mind, giving families a destination to enjoy whether they are participating in a game, cheering from the stands or enjoying the facility’s amenities.
